Find Jesus

How Can I Begin a Personal Journey with God?

Hello, friend.

I’m Pastor Jason and I’m so glad you’re here. Did you know that someone loves you enough to die for you?

The New Testament says that “Christ loved us and gave himself up for us.”

You may know that Jesus died on the cross, but do you know how his death actually helps you?

I invite you to watch the video below, which was produced by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and then read the section that follows to learn more about what the death and resurrection of Jesus means for you…today!

The Problem

God loves us and created us to know him personally.

But our sin has separated us from this holy and awesome God.

That’s a problem, for us and for God, because God must punish sin.

The Solution

But God found a solution to satisfy both his love and his justice he decided that someone would be punished for the sins of the world, but it would have to be someone who had never sinned himself. That person was Jesus.

Who was Jesus?

Jesus has existed as the radiance of God’s glory and the exact imprint of his nature since eternity past.  Around 2000 years ago, he was born of a virgin in the town of Bethlehem in Israel. The Bible gives him the title the Son of God. Jesus lived and died so that he could take our sins and give us his righteousness in exchange. How? In his life, he obeyed God perfectly, so that when he died on the cross, he could pay the price for someone else’s sins, yours and mine.

The Bible says this, referring to Jesus, “God made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”  (found in 2 Corinthians 5:21)  Pastor Matt Smethurst says, “On the cross, God treated Jesus as if he had lived a believer’s sinful life so he could treat us as if we’d lived Christ’s spotless life.”

What happened on the cross when Jesus was crucified?

It was always Jesus’ plan to suffer and die on a cross, so that two things would happen.

  1.  Jesus took our sins on himself and paid the penalty. If you trust in him, there is no punishment left for you to pay. God has no anger toward you because Jesus took it all.
  1. Jesus gives his righteousness to us. God now sees us as if we’d obeyed God’s laws perfectly, like Jesus did. Because of this, when we do good deeds, it’s because we already know God loves us, has forgiven us, and given us eternal life.

Did Jesus stay dead?

Wouldn’t it be sad if Jesus remained in the grave? But, three days later, he rose from the tomb where he was laid, outside Jerusalem! In raising Jesus from the dead, God was publicly affirming that his sacrifice on the cross had been accepted, a just and complete payment for sin.

Jesus is now the central figure in history who is worthy of all our worship and allegiance.

Now what?

 If we…

… believe that Jesus paid for our sins,

…turn from our sins and renounce them,

…stop trusting in our good works to save us,

…and acknowledge Jesus as the Lord of our lives, the one we will worship and follow,

We will…

…be forgiven

…be made new

…and receive eternal life.

The Bible says “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”  (found in Romans 6:23).

Give your life to him today!

If this prayer expresses the desire of your heart, I invite you to say it right now.

“Lord Jesus, I need you. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be. Amen.”

Please get in touch with us if you have any questions of if you just want to tell someone about your new faith in Jesus. We would be thrilled to hear from you!
